Remove Ball Joints On The 1993 Ford Explorer

Checking the ball joints on a 1993 Ford Explorer involves raising the front of the vehicle to the objective that the tires are off the ground. 2. Reduce and remove the two cotter pins located in the ball joints, using a wire cutter.6. Install the knuckle on the ball joints, thread the two nuts on the ball joint studs and tighten. Install the cotter pins in both joints.


Abode the ball Seam separator between the knuckle and the axle and strike it with a hammer until the ball Seam stud comes loose in the knuckle. Lower the knuckle and remove it from the ball joints.


4. Remove the snap rings from the ball joints using snap telephone pliers designed for this head. Dwelling the receiver site of the ball Seam remover on the top of the lower ball Seam. Country the conduit that matches the lower ball Seam on the backside and install the press. Push the ball joint up and out of the axle. Do the same for the top.


5. Install the top ball joint first, reversing the pipes. Make sure that the joint is going in perfectly straight and goes in until it bottoms out. Install the snap ring. Do the same for the bottom lower ball joint.
