Although the Grand Prix started elsewhere as a luxury motorcar, GM eventually redesigned the vehicle to serve as a family-friendly, mid-sized sedan. Unfortunately, the new-look Grand Prix was equipped with a smaller than criterion back seat. Sure, the Grand Prix had plenty of room for loading up shopping bags, luggage and for shuttling the kids around, but should you need to move more cumbersome items, such as a ladder or a small mattress, you may be at a loss. Luckily, GM compensated for a small back seat by providing a method by which Grand Prix owners could flatten their cars' back seats into a horizontal position in order to carry large and oddly-shaped items more easily.
Instructions
1. Remove all items from the back seat of your Grand Prix.
2. Open the trunk. If you have a keyless remote, a trunk release button will be located on the remote, beneath the buttons to lock and unlock the vehicle. If you do not have a keyless remote, you will find the trunk release button in the glove box of the car.
3. The rear seat of the car will come loose in two sections, in a 60/40 split.5. Open the rear door and pull the back seat down into a horizontal position.
Search the trunk's interior for the seat release handles. They are located on the left and right sides of the trunk, near the back.4. Pull the seat release handles to unlock the back seat.
