Replace Brake Shoe Textures

Brake shoe linings attached to the shoes by rivets devoir replaced when worn to 1/32 inch of the rivet heads. Job on the brakes in pairs to preserve Identical braking development on both sides of the machine. Always transform the brake shoe linings on both of the front or rear tires at the identical bout, much when matchless one turn lining needs replaced.

Instructions

1. Gate off the turn and the brake drum. Communication the meeting of the springs and retainers for coming reference. Remove the retracting springs and the brake shoe retainers with brake spring pliers.

Lubricate the adjusting screw with a high-temperature lubricant after removal. Mark the front and rear shoe.3.2. Grab the shoes and lift them off the backing plate. Let them slide together. Disassemble the adjusting screw and spring.

Use a drill with an extra large bit to remove the old linings. Maintain the original size of the rivet holes.

4. Clean the backing plate with a dry rag or an approved cleaner. Apply high-temperature lubricant lightly to the backing plate so the brake shoes don't squeak after assembly.

5. Secure new brake shoe linings. Install the rivets, starting at the middle and working toward the ends. Rivets should hold the brake shoe lining securely without splitting near the rivet holes.

6. Reassemble and test the brakes, making several low-speed stops to ensure that they work.
