Instructions
1. Remove the band clamp that holds the top thermostat hose to the thermostat intake tube with a screwdriver and pull the hose off of the intake tube. Empty the antifreeze in the hose into a small bucket. Keep the fluid as it can be reused.
2. Remove the bolts that hold the thermostat housing onto the Blazer's intake manifold with an adjustable wrench and set the bolts off to the side for later reuse.
3. Pull the thermostat housing off of the intake manifold by pulling up on it. Place the new thermostat back into the intake manifold. It's important that the thermostat is placed with the correct end facing out of the engine. The thermostat will be marked "Top." This is the end that should stick out of the engine.5.
Remove the old paper gasket compressed between the thermostat housing and the intake manifold. Pull the thermostat out of the intake manifold by pulling up on it.4.
Place a bead of RTV gasket maker on the surface where the old gasket was. The silicone should form a seal between the thermostat housing and the intake manifold once the repair is completed.
6. Place the thermostat housing back onto the intake manifold and bolt it back into place using the old bolts.
7. Slide the radiator hose back onto the thermostat intake tube and tighten it down with the band clamp and screwdriver.
8. Replace the radiator fluid by pouring it into the radiator via the radiator filler cap or radiator overflow tank.
