Change A Radiator On The Saturn

The radiator on a Saturn is comprised of a series Of long standing tubes running from left to correctly with a container on Everyone side. Engine coolant is pumped from the engine to the radiator complete the upper radiator hose. Coolant flows down terminated the radiator; a fan draws chilling air in from the vehicle's grill and across the radiator. This air draws heat off the engine coolant. The coolant then returns to the engine over the lower radiator hose.

Instructions

Removing the Air Intake Duct

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the balky battery terminal. Utilize a wrench to loosen the retaining bolt, and then pull the clamp off the terminal.

2. Withdraw the radiator. Allot the petcock valve on the lower fair corner of the radiator. Abode a misspend oil troop pan underneath it. Exercise needle-nose pliers to turn the valve counterclockwise.

3. Loosen the hose clamps on either boundary of the air intake duct, using a Phillips screwdriver.

4. Pull the wiring connector off the air temperature sensor. The air temperature sensor is located in the air intake duct.

5. Remove the air intake duct from the vehicle.

Removing the Engine Fan

6. Applicability locking pliers to loosen the hose clamp that connects the upper radiator hose to the radiator. Slide the clamp back outside from the radiator.

7. Pull the upper radiator hose off the radiator.

8. Unscrew the transmission cooler lines from the radiator (vehicles with automatic transmission onliest). Using a wrench, unscrew the becoming that secures the transmission contour to the radiator.

9. Plug the transmission string to prevent transmission fluid from leaking gone.

10. Disconnect the wiring harness from the electric fan meeting by pulling the plastic wiring connectors off the meeting.

11. Applicability a socket to remove the screws that connect the engine fan to the radiator..

12.39Jog the engine and visually peep for leaks.

Slide the clamp absent from the radiator.

14. Pull the lower radiator hose off the radiator.

15. Hoist the front of the vehicle using an automotive jack and base with jack stands.

16. Appropriateness a socket to remove the four bolts that secure the splash shield on the backside of the vehicle good below the radiator. Remove the splash shield from the vehicle.

17.Employ a socket to remove the two bolts on either side that connect the A/C condenser to the radiator.

18. Unscrew the upper radiator mounting nuts and remove the brackets from the vehicle, using a socket. They Testament be located on top of the radiator at Everyone corner.

19. Carefully lift the radiator up and gone of the engine bay. Remove it from the vehicle.

Installing the Radiator

20. Carefully lower the radiator into position at the core flotation.

21. Reinstall the upper radiator mounting nuts and brackets at the top corners of the radiator, using a socket.

22. Capitalization a socket to screw in the two bolts on Everyone side of the radiator that secure the A/C condenser to the radiator.

23. Lift the splash shield into position under the radiator. Screw in the four bolts that retain it, using a socket.

24. Lower the vehicle.

25. Push the lower radiator hose onto the becoming at the backside of the radiator.

26

Loosen the hose clamp on the upper radiator hose with locking pliers. Slide the clamp over the becoming on the radiator.

Installing the Air Intake Duct

33

Lower the engine fan meeting into position following to the radiator.

28

Screw in the screws that connect the engine fan to the radiator, using a socket.

29

Press the wiring connector onto the back of the engine fan, using your artisan.

30

Reconnect the transmission cooler lines to the radiator. Pull the plugs absent of the lines and thread the becoming into the radiator. Tighten with a wrench.

31

Push the upper radiator hose onto the becoming at the top of the radiator.

32

Loosen the hose clamp on the lower radiator hose, using a brace of locking pliers. Slide the clamp over the becoming on the radiator.

Reinstalling the Engine Fan

27

Lower the air intake duct into position.

34

Reinstall the clamps that secure the air intake duct, using a Phillips screwdriver.

35

Press the wiring connector onto the air temperature sensor.

Refilling the Radiator and Testing

36

Research that the petcock valve on the side of the radiator is closed. Fill the radiator with a 50/50 blend of advanced antifreeze and aqua.

37

Remove the radiator cap from the senescent radiator and install it in the advanced one.

38

Connect the ground cable to the contrary battery terminal. Slide the clamp over the terminal. Applicability a wrench to tighten the retaining bolt.

Lift the engine fan straight up and remove it from the vehicle.

Removing The Radiator

13. Benefit locking pliers to loosen the hose clamp that secures the lower radiator hose to the radiator.
