Removing Dated Car Emulsion
You've persuaded to occupation on your motorcar. If it's for good, personal enrichment or another grounds, you may come to a objective at which you yen to remove the gloss from your vehicle. Sanding and chemical Emigration are both two efficacious and relatively rapid methods of removing auto paint. Sanding creates a rough surface to which new paint will bond while simultaneously removing any imperfections from the body of the vehicle.

4. Move your car into a well-ventilated area, preferably outside.1. Tape and paper off any areas you don't want scratched or damaged during the sanding process. Cover the windows with paper and use masking tape to attach and protect the trim around the window. Also cover your tires, headlights, emblems, trim, grille and rubber pieces with tape. Remove headlights, taillights, markers, license plate and grille if you want optimal, but more labor intensive, results.
2. Put on your goggles, gloves, and dust mask. Put your hair back and remove any loose jewelry or loose clothing. Using your high speed rotary sander, attach the 120-grit sandpaper. Sand in straight movements. Do not sand in circular movemetns, as doing so will create circular patterns in your final coat of paint. After each layer of paint, change the sandpaper to a higher grit and repeat the process. Progress from 120- to 200- to 340- to 600-grit. Replace sandpaper as needed. Never sand with paper that is overused as it could slip during sanding and result in personal injury or damage to your car. Ensure that you remove any rust during sanding.
3. Perform final sanding. With a handheld piece of sandpaper with a fine grit, smooth any small cracks or imperfections not reached with the rotary sander. Finish by sanding over once more with a super fine grit of 600. Use an air compressor to blow out all of the dust created by sanding.

Sanding off Old Auto Paint
If you are going to perform this task indoors, you must have proper ventilation. Keep windows and doors open to allow cross-ventilation. Install and use fans to help circulate fresh air. Wear a mask. Ensure a safe working distance from any flammable items -- such as dryers, water heaters, furnaces and electrical tools -- as these may react with the chemicals to cause fire or explosion.
5. Tape and paper off all areas of the car that you don't want to alter during the paint removal process. See Step 1 of Section 1 for specific instructions.
6. Apply the chemical stripper with the paintbursh. Apply the chemical stripper in thick horizontal layers. Use enough to coat the area of the car, but not so much that it drips down the sides. Work in sections so that the chemical stripper does not dry and harden, which will make the removal process more difficult. Let the chemical stripper rest on the paint for approximately 20 minutes. You will see the paint begin to peel and bubble.
7. Using the paint scraper, lightly scrape the paint off the vehicle. The chemicals will allow you to do so without applying too much pressure. Repeat this process in layers to see optimal results.
8. Finish with a light sanding. Use sandpaper with a super fine grit of 600 to smooth the surface of the vehicle.
