Replace A Subaru A/C Compressor

A Subaru car has an optional air-conditioning action that uses a pulley driven compressor that turns with the Engine. This compressor can wear elsewhere in that of a curtailment of lubricant or damage to the clutch plate. The principles backyard mechanic can exchange a compressor on a Subaru engine in approximately an day and a half.

Instructions

1.3. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the compressor by turning the border nuts counterclockwise. Assent the lines connected to the air-conditioning manner.

Evacuate the A/C method by bewitching the Subaru to a refrigerant party difficulty. Most garages and oil chicken feed stations admit Expert Accoutrement, and they Testament typically evacuate the course for unrestrained since they bias compensated for it.2. Disconnect the battery by turning the cocksure terminal bolt counterclockwise.

4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the compressor by pulling the adapter plug from the terminal.

5. Remove the impel region from the compressor's pulley revolve by urgent firmly against the tension pulley arm to slip the girdle absent from underneath the idle pulley. Once the belt is free from the idle pulley, release the tension pulley arm and you should have enough slack to slide the belt from the compressor pulley wheel.

6. Remove the compressor by turning the mount bolts counterclockwise and sliding them out of the mounting arms. Manipulate the compressor out of the mount.

7. Replace the compressor by sliding it into the mount arms and tightening the mount bolts in a clockwise direction. Replace the wiring harness connector by pressing the adapter plug into the terminal.

8. Reconnect the refrigerant lines by turning their line bolts in a clockwise direction until they are snug.

9. Wrap the drive belt around the compressor pulley wheel. Press the tension pulley arm and slide the belt underneath the idle pulley. Release the tension pulley and the belt will tighten.

10. Reconnect the battery at the positive terminal by turning the mount bolt in a clockwise direction.

11. Refill the system with the proper amount of refrigerant by using a kit or taking the Subaru to the collection facility to reuse the old refrigerant.
