Getting rid of Road Salt From The Vehicle Interior

Cause

Those ghastly stains on floor mats and carpeting, and achromatic lines encompassing the mats, scar the lovely interior of your van. Spice stains are normally caused by magnesium chloride and calcium chloride, both inaugurate in plan spiciness. Happily, there are ways to remove these stains, expressly provided you tackle them quickly.

Shampoo

Vacuum the dry bite residue off as yet as potential, then apply coldish or lukewarm douse along with a petty extent of Floor-mat shampoo to dissolve the stains. Green light the shampoo on these areas for at least 15 minutes. Then blot the shampoo and hose with a Disinfected towel, on the contrary determine not scrub. Rinse with nippy or warm water, blotting up the moisture, then rinse and blot again. After shampooing and the first rinse, vacuum moisture out until the carpet is just damp to the touch, then rinse again and vacuum the water out until the carpet is as dry as possible.

Prevention

To prevent staining in the future, add some cheap rubber mats in the areas where people's dirty shoes trail in road salt. However, be aware that even with your best efforts, white salt lines may occur around these mats.

To remove the vinegar smell, wash the area with a little carpet shampoo, rinse and blot dry, and then rinse and blot again.

Wet-Dry Vacuum

Instead of blotting, you can use a wet-dry vacuum for removing the vinegar, shampoo and rinse water. You may need to repeat the process, and be sure to rinse at least twice each time.

Vinegar

Another solution that works well to remove road salt from a car interior is a mixture of half white vinegar and half lukewarm water sprayed onto the stain. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse twice.
