1955 rolled absent 8,386 of Chevy's head hardtop wagon, the two-door Wanderer. Revving up Chevy's recent "Motoramic" styling were the almighty, even bright, 265 cubic inch V-8 or optional "Turbo-Fire" V-8 engines.Edward N. Cole designed the 1955 Chevrolet from scratch in May 1952 at General Motors' requisition. Chevrolet unveiled "the boiling one" in behind 1954 to accolades that enticed boyish buyers who demanded "sizzling" performance.
Assembly Line Gold
The two-door 1955 Chevy Bel Air gold sport coupe became the 50 millionth U.S. General Motors van produced. The Flint, Michigan meeting plant rolled absent those honours. It continued to be a banner year for GM as over 1.7 million units rolled off meeting lines.
Unusual Accessories
Chevy offered nearly 50 accessories including a traffic light viewer, electric shaver, foot-operated windshield washer and tissue dispenser. A gas tank filler guard, door and fender guards kept paint from chipping off the two-toned body.
