1999 F150 Energy Window Motor Removal

The 1999 Ford F150 power-window Engine turns on when you hit the window switch. The Engine operates the window regulator which, in turn, moves the window up or down. When the Engine fails, you're obviously stuck with a window that is stuck down, up or somewhere in between. Replacement is the sole cure for a defective window motor. Anyone with basic automotive-repair skills can replace a window motor in a 1999 Ford F150 in about two hours.

Instructions

1. Open the door and grab the top trim and pull it off the door. Two retaining clips (which pull out of their mounts fairly easily) hold it in place. You may need the trim tool to get underneath the trim. You can purchase a trim tool at most auto-parts stores.

2. Remove the screw behind the trim with the Philips screwdriver.

3. Pry the door-handle bezel out carefully, using the trim tool. Pry the window-switch bezel out with the trim tool, turn it over and disconnect the wiring harness from the switch by hand.

4. Remove the screw behind the door-handle trim with the Philips screwdriver.

5. Lift the door panel up and off the door carefully. Disconnect the lower courtesy-light wiring harness by hand before moving the panel away from the door.

6. Unbolt the window motor from the window regulator and the door using the socket set. Unplug the wiring harness from the motor and then remove the motor from the door by hand.8. Plug the wiring harness into the new window motor and then bolt it to the door and window regulator using the socket set.

Push the window glass all the way to the top by hand and then tape it to the top of the door frame using the packing tape. One piece of tape, adhered to one side of the window, run over the top of the frame and then down onto the other side of the window should be sufficient. This prevents the glass from falling during motor replacement.7.

9. Reinstall the door panel in reverse order of how you removed it. Remove the tape from the door glass.
