Vehicle Fender Epoxy Glue Removal

Duck egg is besides irritating than glue on a machine fender.

Epoxy glue is one of the strongest forms of glue. Provided epoxy gets onto an unwanted surface, such as a van fender, it can be almost impossible to remove. On the other hand, there are distinct methods that can eliminate epoxy glue from vehivle fenders without damage to the metal.

Acetone

Acetone is one of the champion materials to application to remove epoxy glue from a van fender. Acetone is a acceptable Election considering it Testament not damage the metal, and it Testament not be basic to refinish the entire fender. Pour a small amount of acetone onto the glue. These removers are not all the same. Read the label before purchase and make sure the remover is designed for use with epoxy glue and metal. Some glue removers may damage the metal when removing the glue. Most removers work by weakening the bond that the glue has on the surface. This solution is best for small areas of epoxy glue.

Glue Removers

Many automotive stores sell glue remover that may work on epoxy glues. Allow the acetone to soak into the glue for two to five minutes. Take a putty knife and scrape away the loosened glue. If the glue is still hard to remove, apply another coat of acetone. Allow the remover to sit for several minutes before wiping or scraping away.

Scraping

If other removal methods do not work, use a scraper to chip away the glue from the surface. If this does not work, try an automotive body sander to sand down the glue. You may have to sand the entire fender with several different grades of automotive sandpaper to restore its shine and evenness. However, if other removal options do not work, this is the only way to get rid of epoxy glue.

Other Removal Methods

Carburetor cleaner is a highly volatile substance that can be used to dissolve epoxy glue. Wear a respirator when working with carburetor cleaner or any other solvent. Automotive brake cleaner may also remove epoxy glue, along with denatured alcohol. Test a small area of the glue with any of these solutions before attempting to remove the entire glue spot.
