Change Out A Front lights Inside A '99 Grand Am

Interchange a failed headlight bulb fitting elsewhere.


Whether you observance a burnt-out headlight bulb in your 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, modify it as soon as practicable. Driving with an inoperable headlight can levy you at risk of an accident or a ticket. The '99 Grand Am headlights are easily accessible from under the hood of the machine.8. Close the hood and test the function of the new headlights.




2. Pull up the clips securing the splash shield. You may need a flat-bladed screwdriver to pry the clips up. Remove the splash shield and set it aside.


3. Pull up on the speed clips on either side of the headlight assembly, just inside the engine compartment. Pull the headlight assembly forward to access the bulbs behind it.


4. Turn the bulb socket assembly counterclockwise 1/6-turn to release it from the headlight assembly. Disconnect the wiring harness from the bulb assembly and pull it straight back to remove it.


5. Press the wiring harness into the new bulb assembly. Insert the bulb into the headlight assembly, and turn it 1/6-turn clockwise to lock it into place.


6. Position the headlight assembly into the mounting bracket. Press the speed clips down to lock it into place.


7. Repeat the process on the opposite side if needed. Reposition the splash shield and press the retaining clips into place to secure it.


The bulb used in this automobile is a No. 9007 bulb, and it's available at Car parts stores or directly from a Pontiac dealership.
