Wire Electric Brakes

Provided your trailer was not equipped with brakes when it was manufactured, adding electric brakes and wiring them is a deadweight bushy-tailed within the abilities of the morals do-it-yourself handyman.


Instructions


1. Jack the trailer up and corner it on supports.


2. Remove the trailer tires.


3. Bolt the contemporary brake backing plate and meeting to the flange on the axle using grade 8 bolts. The amount may vary due to contrastive axle manufacturers however Testament generally be 3/8 inch by 1.25 inches.


4.12. Connect the trailer and verify the operation of the brakes.


Install a fashionable grease seal on the hub.


6. Install the hub/drum meeting on the axle. Adjust the rotate bearing stone until no play is evident in the spin, on the contrary end not overtighten.


7. Using a solderless call terminal and a self-tapping screw, attach one of the wires from the brake meeting to the trailer frame. Allow enough slack for full suspension travel without pulling on the wire.


8. Using a butt connector, attach a wire to the second wire from the brake assembly and run it along the axle to the other side of the trailer.


9. Attach one of the wires on the second brake to the trailer frame as above.


10. Use a butt connector and join the second wire on this brake to the wire brought from the first side of the trailer.


11. Splice into the wire connecting the two brakes with a Scotchlok connector. Run a wire from this connector to the trailer connector's electric brake pin.


Pack the trailer circle bearings with rotate bearing grease. Provided packing the grease by share, constitute firm that grease has been forced completely into the bearing. Practice of a bearing packing part is recommended.5.
