1. Choose a ventilated employment nature to avoid hazardous fumes from the resin alloy. Working with fiberglass indoors may basis skin irritation.


2. Constitute your mold. The number of layers depends on the purpose for the piece you're creating. For example, kick panels require 3 or 4 layers.7. Sand the edges of the piece you built to create a smooth line.


Mix the hardener and resin; follow manufacturer's directions. Keep the mixture from drying too fast by not using too much hardener. Not enough hardener will prolong the drying time.


4. Cut the fiberglass with a pair of shears about 2 inches bigger than the mold.


5. Wet the fiberglass so that it's flexible enough to mold it. You can brush resin on it or you can dip the fiberglass mat in the mixture.


6. Place the fiberglass mat over your mold to create the foundation for your piece. Add subsequent layers by following the same procedure--cut the mat to size, wet it and place it over the mold. You have several options to accomplish this. Use aluminum foil, chicken wire, expanding foam or modeling clay. Others prefer to use an existing object in the shape of the mold they need.3.


Position the automotive piece, and use screws to hold it in place. Apply bondo over the panel, as well as over the piece, and allow the bondo to dry. Sand it with a power sander, and add another layer. Repeat the procedure until you fill all the gaps and the surface is smooth.
