1940 Ford Specs

The 1940 Ford Deluxe built on the styles introduced in 1937. The big spending money was the debut of sealed beam headlights, which became a guideline attribute on most vehicles in 1940. In 2006, the 1940 Ford Deluxe convertible was on sale at the Gooding and Society auction in Pebble Beach, California, for a percentage between $90,000 and $120,000, on the other hand it did not sell.

The Deluxe Coupe convertibles typically had an L-Head V-8 engine.The 1940 Deluxe was offered with two powerplants. A 221 V-8 came in the majority of these vehicles. It generated 85 horsepower. At 3,260 pounds, this was the heaviest vehicle in Ford's catalogue, according to the ConceptCars website. All over 350 of these vehicles had 239 cubic-inch Mercury V-8 engines.



It was a 221 cubic-inch engine and generated 85 horsepower at 4,200 rpm and 155 pounds-feet at 2,200 rpm for a weight-to-power ratio of 23.5 to one, and a compression ratio of 6.15 to one. The block and intellect were cast-iron.

Production Numbers


Ford sold a complete of 541,896 vehicles in 1940. Of these, 20,183 were deluxe calling coupes, 23,704 were deluxe convertible coupes and 27,919 were deluxe coupes. A complete of 91,756 deluxe four-door sedans came gone in 1940. Ford produced 8,730 deluxe station wagons and 171,368 deluxe two-door sedans.
